I'm fascinated with unusual things from all over the world so I found these facts. If I get some stars I'll find some more facts and post them too. 1. In Thailand the revered royal family speak an Ancient language known only to members of the family and a few privileged others. 2. In Scotland they have such New Year's traditions such as settling debts, 'first footing' and the 'Burning of the Clavie' which is where a tarred barrel with wood shavings is set alight and carried clockwise across the town. 3. In Botswana the Tswani people believe that married people must have sex at midnight on New Years Eve to ensure a prosperous year. 4. In Czech Republic bathing in beer has become popular at spas and health facilities. 5. If you think some things in restaurants where you're from are weird. In southern Hunan, China you can order human breast milk. The milk is supplied by local nursing mothers and used in the restaurant's dishes. 6. In Spain on the last Wednesday of August the festival of La Tomatina takes place where residents throw tomatoes at each other throughout the week in a massive tomato food fight. (Sounds like fun) 7. On the Friday before Lent in Ponti, Italy the people make a 1000 egg omelette as a local custom 8. In Maurituana, Africa obesity is regarded as beautiful. In order to find a groom young girls are sent to fattening farms, appetite stimulating drugs are not uncommon. Women are only considered beautiful if they are in between 60 and 100 kg (132-220 lb) and are punished if they do not eat. 9. In France on November 25th unmarried women pray to the statue of St Catherine Alexandria and unmarried women over 25 are showered with gifts of cards and hats and clothing bouquets have their hats paraded. 10. In North Korea it is forbidden to marry under the age of 25 for women and under 27 for men so they can do compulsory military service. 11. In the Zulu tribe of South Africa the tribal chief may have as many wives as he can afford. Polygamy is considered acceptable over in many parts of Africa. 12. In Brockwith, Gloucestershire, England the sport of Cheese Rolling is played. It is where a large round (sphere?) of cheese is rolled down a hill and the player must chase after it. It can be dangerous as the cheese can go up to 70 mph and has injured people. 13. In Paraguay it is legal to duel (as in Merlin style, medieval duel) only if you are a regisered blood/organ donor. 14. In Reykjavik, Iceland it is illegal to own a pet dog (say rake-a-veek). 15.
